Instructions for Using AD7874AN

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect the supply voltage (VDD) to a stable 5V source.
    • Ensure the supply current (IDD) does not exceed 1.2mA during operation.
  2. Reference Voltage:

    • Connect the reference voltage (VREF) to an external reference between 2.5V and 5.0V.
    • The input range (VIN) is differential and should be within 0 to VREF.
  3. Conversion:

    • Initiate a conversion by setting the appropriate control signals.
    • The conversion time (tCONV) is typically 130 μs for a 16-bit conversion.
  4. Linearity and Accuracy:

    • Monitor the differential nonlinearity (DNL) and integral nonlinearity (INL) to ensure they remain within ±1 LSB and ±2 LSB, respectively.
    • Check the offset error (VOFF) and gain error (VGA) to ensure they are within ±2 mV and ±1% FSR, respectively.
  5. Signal-to-Noise Ratio:

    • For optimal performance, ensure the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is at least 90 dB when using a 5V reference.
  6. Power Management:

    • To reduce power consumption, use the power-down mode where the current (IDD(PD)) drops to approximately 1 μA.
  7. Temperature Range:

    • Operate the device within the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
  8. Handling and Storage:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid static damage.
    • Store the device in a dry environment to prevent moisture-related issues.
