Instructions

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect VDD to the positive supply voltage (3V to 18V).
    • Connect VSS to ground (0V).
  2. Clock Input:

    • Apply the clock signal to the CLK input of each counter.
    • The counters will increment on the rising edge of the clock signal.
  3. Reset Input:

    • Connect the reset input (RST) to a logic high level to reset the counter to zero.
    • Connect RST to ground to allow normal counting operation.
  4. Enable Inputs:

    • Connect the enable inputs (ENP and ENT) to logic high to enable counting.
    • Connect ENP or ENT to ground to disable counting.
  5. Output:

    • The outputs (Q0 to Q7) represent the binary count from 0 to 255 (for each 8-bit counter).
    • The outputs can be used to drive other logic circuits or connected to external devices.
  6. Cascade Operation:

    • To cascade multiple CD4520BE counters, connect the carry-out (CO) of one counter to the clock input (CLK) of the next counter.
    • This allows for counting beyond 255 by combining multiple 8-bit counters.
  7. Power-On Reset:

    • It is recommended to use a power-on reset circuit to ensure that the counters start from zero when power is applied.
    • A simple RC circuit can be used to generate a reset pulse at power-up.
  8. Decoupling Capacitors:

    • Place a 0.1渭F ceramic capacitor between VDD and VSS close to the device to reduce noise and improve stability.
  9. Handling Precautions:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD).
    • Use proper grounding and handling techniques when working with the device.
  10. Storage:

    • Store the device in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
    • Follow the storage temperature range specified in the parameter table.

By following these instructions, you can effectively use the CD4520BE dual 8-bit binary counter in your digital circuits.
