Instructions for MAX690ACSA

1. Pin Configuration

  • 1 (VCC): Supply voltage input.
  • 2 (GND): Ground.
  • 3 (RESET): Active-low reset output.
  • 4 (WDT): Watchdog timer input.
  • 5 (MR): Manual reset input.
  • 6 (NC): No connect.

2. Operation

  • Power-On Reset (POR):

    • The device automatically generates a reset pulse when power is applied. The reset pulse width is approximately 200 to 400 ms, ensuring that the system initializes correctly.
  • Watchdog Timer (WDT):

    • The watchdog timer resets if the WDT pin is not toggled within the timeout period (1.6 to 2.4 seconds). The reset pulse width is 200 to 400 ms.
    • To prevent a reset, the WDT pin must be toggled before the timeout period expires.
  • Manual Reset (MR):

    • A low pulse on the MR pin for at least 1.6 to 2.4 seconds will generate a reset pulse. The reset pulse width is 200 to 400 ms.
    • This can be used to manually reset the system without waiting for the watchdog timer.
  • Reset Output (RESET):

    • The RESET pin goes low during a reset condition, which can be used to reset other devices or microcontrollers in the system.

3. Application Notes

  • Decoupling Capacitors:
    • Place a 0.1 μF ceramic capacitor as close as possible to the VCC and GND pins to filter out noise and ensure stable operation.
  • Pull-Up Resistors:
    • Use pull-up resistors on the WDT and MR pins if they are not actively driven by external circuits.
  • Power Supply:
    • Ensure the supply voltage is within the specified range (2.7V to 5.5V) to avoid damage to the device.

4. Example Circuit

  • Basic Connection:
    • Connect VCC to the power supply.
    • Connect GND to ground.
    • Connect the RESET pin to the reset input of the microcontroller or system.
    • Connect the WDT pin to a microcontroller output that toggles periodically.
    • Connect the MR pin to a manual reset switch or button.

This table and the instructions should provide you with the necessary information to use the MAX690ACSA effectively in your design.
