Instructions for Using UC2903N:

  1. Input Voltage (VIN):

    • Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 40V.
    • Use appropriate input filtering capacitors to reduce noise and ripple.
  2. Output Voltage (VOUT):

    • The output voltage can be adjusted using external resistors. The formula for setting the output voltage is: [ V_ = 1.25 left(1 + fracright) ]
    • Choose R1 and R2 values to achieve the desired output voltage.
  3. Output Current (IOUT):

    • The maximum continuous output current is 3A, with a typical value of 1.5A.
    • Ensure the power supply can handle the required current and that the heat dissipation is adequate.
  4. Quiescent Current (IQ):

    • The quiescent current is typically 5mA and should not exceed 10mA under no-load conditions.
    • This current is drawn from the input supply even when there is no load on the output.
  5. Dropout Voltage (VDROPOUT):

    • The dropout voltage is the minimum difference between the input and output voltages required to maintain regulation.
    • It typically ranges from 1.7V to 2.5V at full load.
  6. Load Regulation:

    • The load regulation is the change in output voltage due to changes in load current.
    • It is typically 0.5% and should not exceed 1%.
  7. Line Regulation:

    • The line regulation is the change in output voltage due to changes in input voltage.
    • It is typically 0.01% per volt and should not exceed 0.1% per volt.
  8. Ripple Rejection:

    • The ripple rejection is the ability of the regulator to reject input ripple.
    • It is typically 70dB and should not fall below 80dB at 120Hz.
  9. Thermal Shutdown (TSD):

    • The device will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 160°C to prevent damage.
    • Ensure proper heat sinking and ventilation to keep the temperature within safe limits.
  10. Operating Temperature (TOPR):

    • The operating temperature range is from -40°C to 125°C.
    • Ensure the ambient temperature and heat dissipation are managed to keep the device within this range.
  11. Storage Temperature (TSTG):

    • The storage temperature range is from -65°C to 150°C.
    • Store the device in a dry, cool place to avoid damage.

Additional Notes:

  • Always use appropriate bypass capacitors on the input and output to ensure stability and reduce noise.
  • Refer to the datasheet for detailed information on pin configurations, thermal considerations, and application circuits.
