Instructions

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect the VCC pin to the positive supply voltage (2.0 V to 5.5 V).
    • Connect the GND pin to the ground.
  2. Input Connections:

    • Connect the trigger inputs (A1, A2, B1, B2) to the appropriate signal sources.
    • Use pull-up or pull-down resistors as needed to ensure proper logic levels when the inputs are not actively driven.
  3. Output Connections:

    • Connect the output pins (Q1, Q2, /Q1, /Q2) to the load or subsequent circuitry.
    • Ensure that the load current does not exceed the maximum output current ratings.
  4. External Components:

    • For timing, use external RC circuits connected to the threshold (R1, R2) and discharge (C1, C2) pins.
    • The time delay (T) can be calculated using the formula: [ T = 1.1 times R times C ]
    • Where R is the resistance in ohms and C is the capacitance in farads.
  5. Retriggering:

    • To enable retriggering, connect the output (Q1, Q2) to the trigger input (A1, A2) through an appropriate logic gate or directly if the application allows.
    • The retriggering interval should be greater than the minimum pulse width (tW) to ensure reliable operation.
  6. Reset Function:

    • The reset inputs (MR1, MR2) can be used to force the outputs to a low state.
    • Connect these pins to a high level (VCC) to disable the reset function.
  7. Decoupling Capacitors:

    • Place a 0.1 μF ceramic capacitor close to the VCC and GND pins to filter out noise and stabilize the power supply.
  8. Operating Conditions:

    • Ensure that the operating temperature (TA) stays within the specified range (-40°C to 85°C) to avoid thermal stress.
    • Store the device within the storage temperature range (-65°C to 150°C) to prevent damage.

By following these instructions, you can effectively use the CD74HCT123E in your digital circuit designs.
