Instructions for Use:

  1. Power Supply:

    • Ensure the supply voltage (Vcc) is within the range of 5.5V to 45V.
    • Use a power supply capable of providing sufficient current to meet the peak and continuous output current requirements.
  2. Current Limiting:

    • The LMD18245T has built-in current limiting to protect against overcurrent conditions.
    • For continuous operation, do not exceed 2A of output current.
  3. Thermal Management:

    • Monitor the junction temperature (TJ) to ensure it does not exceed 150°C.
    • Use appropriate heatsinking to manage power dissipation, especially when operating at higher currents or in high ambient temperatures.
  4. Input Signals:

    • Apply input signals with voltages between 0.8V and 5.5V to control the motor driver.
    • Ensure the input current does not exceed 10μA to avoid damage to the input pins.
  5. Short-Circuit Protection:

    • The device includes short-circuit protection, which will limit the current and prevent damage in case of a short circuit.
    • If a short circuit occurs, the device will automatically shut down and reset once the fault is cleared.
  6. Thermal Shutdown:

    • The device will shut down if the internal temperature exceeds 160°C to 170°C.
    • Allow the device to cool before resuming operation.
  7. Storage and Handling:

    • Store the device in a temperature range of -65°C to 150°C.
    • Handle with care to avoid static discharge, which can damage the device.
  8. Mounting:

    • Mount the device on a PCB with adequate thermal management to ensure reliable operation.
    • Follow recommended PCB layout guidelines to minimize parasitic inductance and capacitance.
