CMOS Programmable Interval Timer
The CP82C54 is a CMOS programmable interval timer (PIT) manufactured by Intersil. It is a 24-pin dual in-line package (DIP) device that can be used to generate accurate time delays or periodic interrupts. The CP82C54 features two independent 16-bit counters that can be used to generate time delays or periodic interrupts. It has a programmable input clock frequency of 2.5 MHz, and can be programmed to generate time delays or periodic interrupts from 1 μs to 16.7 ms. It also has an interrupt output pin that can be used to generate an interrupt signal when the counter reaches zero. The CP82C54 can be used in a variety of applications, such as controlling the timing of motors, controlling the timing of digital logic circuits, and generating periodic interrupts for microprocessors. It can also be used in embedded systems, such as industrial automation systems, to generate accurate time delays or periodic interrupts. (For reference only)
