Instructions for Use

  1. Supply Voltage (VDD):

    • Ensure the supply voltage is within the range of 10V to 20V.
    • The under-voltage lockout (UVLO) will activate if VDD drops below 9.5V.
  2. High-Side Driver Supply (VHB):

    • The high-side driver can operate with a supply voltage ranging from 10V to 600V.
    • Ensure proper decoupling capacitors are used to stabilize the high-side supply.
  3. Low-Side Driver Supply (VLB):

    • The low-side driver operates with a supply voltage between 10V and 20V.
    • This should be the same as VDD.
  4. Input Levels:

    • The input high level (VIH) should be at least 2.0V.
    • The input low level (VIL) should not exceed 0.8V.
  5. Output Levels:

    • The output high level (VOH) will be between 8.5V and 17V when VDD is between 10V and 20V.
    • The output low level (VOL) will be less than or equal to 1.5V.
  6. Timing Parameters:

    • The propagation delay time (td) is typically 50ns.
    • The rise time (tr) and fall time (tf) are both typically 25ns.
  7. Current Ratings:

    • The quiescent current (IQ) is typically 1.5mA.
    • The short-circuit current (ISC) is limited to 10A for 100ms to prevent damage.
  8. Operating Temperature:

    • The device can operate in ambient temperatures ranging from -40°C to 125°C.
  9. Protection Features:

    • The device includes over-voltage lockout (OVLO) which activates at 23V.
    • Ensure that the device is not exposed to voltages exceeding its maximum ratings to avoid damage.
  10. Layout Considerations:

    • Use short, wide traces for power and ground connections to minimize inductance.
    • Place decoupling capacitors close to the IC to reduce noise and improve stability.
  11. Handling:

    • The IR21084S is sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Use appropriate ESD protection measures during handling and installation.
