Instructions for TDA2004R

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect the positive supply voltage (Vcc) to pin 8 and the negative supply voltage (GND) to pin 4.
    • Use a supply voltage between 15V and 30V for optimal performance.
  2. Input Connection:

    • Connect the input signal to pin 1 (IN+).
    • Connect the inverting input to pin 2 (IN-). For non-inverting operation, connect IN- to ground or a suitable bias point.
  3. Output Connection:

    • Connect the output (OUT) to pin 5.
    • Use an appropriate speaker impedance (4Ω or 8Ω) for the load.
  4. Biasing:

    • The TDA2004R has internal biasing, but external biasing can be used for specific applications. Ensure the biasing network does not exceed the maximum input voltage ratings.
  5. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation by mounting the TDA2004R on a heatsink if operating at high power levels.
    • Monitor the thermal shutdown temperature (150°C to 160°C) to avoid damage.
  6. Shutdown Mode:

    • To enter shutdown mode, connect pin 7 (SD) to GND. This reduces the quiescent current to approximately 1μA to 2μA.
    • To resume normal operation, disconnect pin 7 from GND.
  7. Protection Circuits:

    • The TDA2004R includes built-in protection circuits for short-circuit, thermal, and overvoltage conditions. These circuits will automatically shut down the device if any of these conditions are detected.
  8. Capacitors:

    • Use bypass capacitors (e.g., 100nF and 10μF) between Vcc and GND close to the IC to filter out noise and ensure stable operation.
    • Add a 100nF capacitor between pin 5 (OUT) and GND to prevent oscillation.
  9. PCB Layout:

    • Keep the PCB layout as compact as possible to minimize parasitic inductances and capacitances.
    • Ensure good grounding practices to reduce noise and improve stability.
  10. Testing:

    • Before connecting the load, test the IC with a small signal to verify proper operation.
    • Gradually increase the input signal level to the desired output power while monitoring the temperature and performance.

By following these instructions, you can ensure reliable and efficient operation of the TDA2004R audio amplifier IC.
