IR2121 Instructions

  1. Supply Voltage (Vcc):

    • The supply voltage should be between 10V and 20V.
    • Ensure that the supply voltage is stable to avoid any malfunction.
  2. Bootstrap Supply Voltage (Vb):

    • The bootstrap supply voltage should be between 5.5V and 20V.
    • This voltage is used to drive the high-side MOSFET gate.
  3. Input Logic Levels:

    • The input high level voltage (VIH) should be between 2.0V and 15V.
    • The input low level voltage (VIL) should be between 0.8V and 2.0V.
    • Use appropriate logic levels to ensure reliable operation.
  4. Output Voltage Levels:

    • The output high level voltage (VOH) should be between 13.5V and 15.5V when Vcc = 15V and IOH = -1mA.
    • The output low level voltage (VOL) should be between 0.5V and 1.0V when Vcc = 15V and IOL = 10mA.
  5. Output Current:

    • The output sink current (IOL) can range from 100mA to 500mA.
    • The output source current (IOH) can range from -500mA to -100mA.
  6. Timing Parameters:

    • The propagation delay time (tpd) is between 35ns and 90ns.
    • The rise time (tr) and fall time (tf) are both between 30ns and 80ns.
  7. Temperature Range:

    • The operating temperature range for the device is from -40°C to 150°C.
    • Ensure that the device is operated within this temperature range to avoid damage.
  8. Circuit Design Considerations:

    • Use appropriate decoupling capacitors close to the Vcc and Vb pins to ensure stable operation.
    • Ensure that the bootstrap capacitor is large enough to maintain the high-side gate drive during the switching cycle.
    • Use external resistors to limit the gate current if necessary to protect the MOSFETs.
  9. Handling Precautions:

    • The IR2121 is sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Handle the device with care and use proper ESD protection.
    • Avoid exposing the device to excessive heat or mechanical stress.

By following these parameters and instructions, you can ensure reliable and efficient operation of the IR2121 high voltage, high-speed power MOSFET driver.
