Instructions for Use

  1. Input Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage (VIN) to the input pin of the HIP2100IBZT.
    • Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range (4.5V to 14V).
  2. Output Connection:

    • Connect the output pin to the load requiring a regulated 5V supply.
    • The maximum continuous output current is 3.5A.
  3. Ground Connection:

    • Connect the ground (GND) pin to the common ground of the system.
  4. Capacitors:

    • Place a 10μF ceramic capacitor between the input pin and ground to filter input noise.
    • Place a 10μF ceramic capacitor between the output pin and ground to stabilize the output voltage.
  5. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation, especially when operating at high output currents.
    • The device has a thermal shutdown feature to protect against overheating, but it should not be relied upon as the primary thermal management method.
  6. Efficiency:

    • The device is designed for high efficiency, typically around 90% under nominal conditions.
    • Monitor the efficiency to ensure optimal performance.
  7. Operating Conditions:

    • The operating junction temperature range is from -40°C to 125°C.
    • The storage temperature range is from -40°C to 150°C.
  8. Thermal Shutdown:

    • The device will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 160°C.
    • Allow the device to cool before resuming operation.
  9. Dropout Voltage:

    • The dropout voltage is the minimum difference between the input and output voltages required to maintain regulation.
    • At a typical output current of 3.0A, the dropout voltage is around 0.4V to 0.8V.
  10. Quiescent Current:

    • The quiescent current is the current consumed by the device when no load is connected.
    • It is typically around 1.5mA to 2.5mA.
