Instructions for Use

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect the VCC pin to the positive supply (2.0 V to 5.5 V).
    • Connect the GND pin to the ground.
  2. Clock Configuration:

    • Use an external crystal or oscillator connected to the XTAL1 and XTAL2 pins for clock generation.
    • Alternatively, use an internal RC oscillator by configuring the appropriate fuses.
  3. Program Memory:

    • The device comes with 2 KB of ROM pre-programmed with factory-default code.
    • For custom programming, use an appropriate programmer compatible with the Z84C00 series.
  4. Data Memory:

    • Access the 128 bytes of RAM for data storage and manipulation during program execution.
  5. I/O Ports:

    • Configure the I/O ports (P0, P1, P2) as input or output using the port control registers.
    • Use the internal pull-up resistors for input pins if necessary.
  6. Interrupts:

    • Enable and configure interrupts for INT0, INT1, T0, T1, and UART using the interrupt enable and priority registers.
  7. Timers/Counters:

    • Initialize and control the 8-bit timers (T0, T1) for timing and counting functions.
    • Set up the prescaler and mode of operation as required.
  8. Serial Communication:

    • Configure the UART for serial communication by setting the baud rate, data format, and other parameters.
    • Use the TXD and RXD pins for data transmission and reception.
  9. Watchdog Timer:

    • Enable the watchdog timer to prevent system lockup by writing to the watchdog control register.
    • Clear the watchdog timer periodically to avoid a reset.
  10. Power Management:

    • Enter low-power modes (Idle, Power Down, Power Save) to reduce power consumption when not actively processing.
    • Use the appropriate sleep and wake-up mechanisms to manage power efficiently.
  11. Reset:

    • Ensure proper reset conditions by connecting the RST pin to a suitable reset circuit.
    • Use the watchdog timer or external reset signals to initiate a reset when necessary.
