Instructions:

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage (VIN) to the power supply within the specified range (4.0V to 5.5V).
    • Ensure the power supply is stable and capable of providing the required current.
  2. Battery Connection:

    • Connect the battery to the VBAT pin.
    • Ensure the battery is a single cell Lithium-Ion or Lithium-Polymer type.
  3. Programming the Charging Current:

    • Set the charging current (ICHG) by connecting an external resistor (RPROG) between the PROG pin and ground.
    • Use the formula: ICHG = 1000 μA × (RPROG / 1 kΩ).
  4. Charge Status Monitoring:

    • Monitor the charge status using the PG (Power Good) pin.
    • The PG pin will be low when the device is charging and high when the charge is complete.
  5. Thermal Management:

    • The device automatically reduces the charging current if it detects overheating.
    • Ensure proper heat dissipation by placing the device on a heatsink or in a well-ventilated area.
  6. Safety Timer:

    • The device has a built-in safety timer that terminates charging after 4 hours if the battery is not fully charged.
    • If the battery is not fully charged within this time, check the battery and connections.
  7. Input UVLO:

    • The device will not start charging if the input voltage is below the UVLO threshold (4.0V).
    • Ensure the input voltage is above the threshold before attempting to charge the battery.
  8. Storage and Handling:

    • Store the device in a dry, cool place within the specified storage temperature range.
    • Handle with care to avoid damage from static electricity or physical stress.
