Instructions

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect the VCC pin to a power supply within the range of 2.7V to 10.8V.
    • Ensure the power supply can provide sufficient current to meet the operating and peak current requirements.
  2. Logic Inputs:

    • Apply logic levels to the control pins (STEP, DIR, SLP, MS1, MS2) as per the application requirements.
    • Ensure the logic input voltages are within the specified range (VIL and VIH).
  3. Motor Connection:

    • Connect the motor to the AOUT1, AOUT2, BOUT1, and BOUT2 pins.
    • Use the appropriate current limit settings to avoid exceeding the maximum continuous or peak current ratings.
  4. Standby Mode:

    • Set the SLP pin to a low level to enter standby mode, reducing quiescent current.
    • To exit standby mode, set the SLP pin to a high level.
  5. Microstepping:

    • Configure the microstepping mode using the MS1 and MS2 pins.
    • Refer to the datasheet for specific combinations of MS1 and MS2 to achieve the desired microstepping resolution.
  6. Thermal Management:

    • Monitor the operating temperature to ensure it does not exceed 85°C.
    • If the device reaches the thermal shutdown temperature (150°C), it will automatically shut down to prevent damage.
  7. Storage:

    • Store the device in an environment with a temperature range of -65°C to 150°C to avoid damage.
  8. Protection Features:

    • The device includes overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) to protect against common fault conditions.
  9. Layout Considerations:

    • Place the device close to the power supply and motor to minimize parasitic inductance and resistance.
    • Use decoupling capacitors near the VCC pin to filter out noise and provide stable power.
  10. Testing:

    • Before finalizing the design, test the device under various operating conditions to ensure reliable performance.
