Instructions for MAX487ESA

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect the VCC pin to a 5V power supply.
    • Connect the GND pin to the ground.
  2. Driver Enable (DE) and Receiver Enable (RE):

    • Set DE high to enable the driver.
    • Set RE low to enable the receiver.
    • When both DE and RE are high, the device is in a high-impedance state.
  3. Data Transmission:

    • To transmit data, set DE high and apply the data to the DI (driver input) pin.
    • The data will be transmitted on the differential lines (RO and /RO).
  4. Data Reception:

    • To receive data, set RE low.
    • The received data will be available on the RO (receiver output) pin.
  5. Termination Resistors:

    • For proper operation, terminate the bus with a 120Ω resistor between the differential lines (RO and /RO) at both ends of the bus.
  6. Signal Levels:

    • Ensure that the signal levels on the differential lines are within the specified range to avoid damage to the device.
  7. Operating Temperature:

    • The device is designed to operate within the temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
  8. Storage Temperature:

    • Store the device in a temperature range of -65°C to 150°C.
  9. ESD Protection:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.
  10. Pin Configuration:

    • Refer to the datasheet for the specific pin configuration and layout.

By following these instructions, you can ensure reliable operation of the MAX487ESA in your RS-485/RS-422 communication system.
