Instructions for Use:

  1. Input Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage to the VIN pin. Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range (4.5V to 40V).
  2. Output Configuration:

    • For fixed output voltage (5V), connect the output directly from the VOUT pin.
    • For adjustable output voltage, use an external resistor divider connected to the ADJ pin. The formula for calculating the output voltage is: [ V_ = 1.23 left(1 + fracright) ] where ( R_1 ) is the resistor connected between VOUT and ADJ, and ( R_2 ) is the resistor connected between ADJ and GND.
  3. Ground Connection:

    • Connect the ground (GND) pin to the common ground of the system.
  4. Capacitors:

    • Place a 1μF ceramic capacitor close to the VIN pin to filter input noise.
    • Place a 1μF ceramic capacitor close to the VOUT pin to stabilize the output.
  5. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation if operating at high power levels or in high ambient temperatures. The thermal shutdown temperature is 160°C.
  6. Short-Circuit Protection:

    • The device has built-in short-circuit protection, limiting the output current to approximately 1.5A.
  7. Operating Temperature:

    • Operate the device within the specified temperature range (-40°C to 125°C) to ensure reliable performance.
  8. Storage Temperature:

    • Store the device in a temperature range of -65°C to 150°C to prevent damage.
  9. Handling Precautions:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid static discharge, which can damage sensitive components. Use proper ESD protection practices.
