Instructions for Using TL494CDR2G

  1. Power Supply:

    • Ensure the supply voltage ( V_ ) is within the specified range (8V to 40V).
    • Connect the power supply to pin 16 (Vcc) and ground to pin 8 (GND).
  2. Oscillator Configuration:

    • Connect a resistor ( R_t ) between pin 6 (RT/CT) and pin 5 (CT).
    • Connect a capacitor ( C_t ) between pin 5 (CT) and ground.
    • The oscillator frequency ( f_ ) can be calculated using the formula: [ f_ = frac{1.1}{R_t times C_t} ]
  3. Error Amplifier:

    • Connect the inverting input of the error amplifier (pin 2) to the feedback signal.
    • Connect the non-inverting input of the error amplifier (pin 1) to the reference voltage.
    • The reference voltage can be set using the internal 5V reference (pin 14).
  4. Output Control:

    • The outputs (pins 11 and 12) can be configured as push-pull or open-collector based on the application.
    • For push-pull configuration, connect the load directly to the outputs.
    • For open-collector configuration, use external pull-up resistors.
  5. Dead Time Control:

    • Adjust the dead time by connecting a capacitor between pins 4 and 5.
    • The dead time can be fine-tuned to prevent shoot-through in power stages.
  6. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure proper heat dissipation to prevent the device from exceeding the thermal shutdown temperature (160°C).
  7. Testing and Troubleshooting:

    • Verify the supply voltage and connections before powering the device.
    • Use an oscilloscope to monitor the oscillator frequency and output waveforms.
    • Check the error amplifier inputs and outputs for correct operation.

By following these instructions, you can effectively configure and use the TL494CDR2G in your power supply or control circuit applications.
