Instructions

  1. Power Supply:

    • Ensure that the supply voltage (Vcc) is within the range of 2.7V to 3.6V.
    • Connect Vcc to the appropriate pin and GND to the ground pin.
  2. Pin Configuration:

    • Refer to the datasheet for the specific pin configuration of the 8-SOIC package.
    • Common pins include Vcc, GND, SI (Serial Input), SO (Serial Output), SCK (Serial Clock), and CS (Chip Select).
  3. Initialization:

    • Before any operation, ensure that the chip select (CS) is high (inactive).
    • To activate the device, pull CS low.
  4. Read Operation:

    • Send the read command (0x03) followed by the starting address.
    • The device will output data from the specified address.
  5. Write Operation:

    • Send the write enable command (0x06) to allow writing.
    • Send the page program command (0x02) followed by the starting address and data.
    • Wait for the write cycle to complete before performing another operation.
  6. Erase Operation:

    • Send the write enable command (0x06) to allow erasing.
    • For sector erase, send the sector erase command (0x20) followed by the starting address.
    • For block erase, send the block erase command (0x52) followed by the starting address.
    • For chip erase, send the chip erase command (0x60).
    • Wait for the erase cycle to complete before performing another operation.
  7. Status Register:

    • To check the status of the device, send the read status register command (0x05).
    • The status register indicates whether the device is busy or ready for new commands.
  8. Power Down:

    • When not in use, set CS high to put the device in standby mode, reducing power consumption.
  9. Handling Precautions:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid static discharge.
    • Ensure proper grounding and use anti-static wrist straps when handling the device.

For detailed information and additional commands, refer to the official datasheet provided by Macronix.
