Instructions

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect VCC to the positive power supply (1.7V to 3.6V).
    • Connect GND to the ground.
  2. SPI Interface:

    • SI (Serial Input): Data input from the master.
    • SCK (Serial Clock): Clock signal from the master.
    • CS (Chip Select): Active low signal to select the device.
    • SO (Serial Output): Data output to the master.
    • WP (Write Protect): Active low signal to prevent write operations.
    • HOLD (Hold): Active low signal to hold the device in a paused state.
  3. Initialization:

    • Ensure CS is high to keep the device deselected.
    • Set WP high to allow write operations.
    • Set HOLD high to ensure normal operation.
  4. Reading Data:

    • Pull CS low to select the device.
    • Send the read command (e.g., 0x03).
    • Send the address of the memory location to be read.
    • The device will send the data byte on SO during the subsequent clock cycles.
    • Pull CS high to deselect the device.
  5. Writing Data:

    • Pull CS low to select the device.
    • Send the write enable command (e.g., 0x06).
    • Send the write command (e.g., 0x02).
    • Send the address of the memory location to be written.
    • Send the data byte to be written.
    • Wait for the programming time (5 ms max) before performing another write or read operation.
    • Pull CS high to deselect the device.
  6. Erasing the Chip:

    • Pull CS low to select the device.
    • Send the write enable command (e.g., 0x06).
    • Send the chip erase command (e.g., 0xC7).
    • Wait for the erase time (10 ms max) before performing another write or read operation.
    • Pull CS high to deselect the device.
  7. Status Register:

    • To read the status register:
      • Pull CS low to select the device.
      • Send the read status register command (e.g., 0x05).
      • The device will send the status byte on SO.
      • Pull CS high to deselect the device.
    • To write to the status register:
      • Pull CS low to select the device.
      • Send the write enable command (e.g., 0x06).
      • Send the write status register command (e.g., 0x01).
      • Send the new status byte.
      • Pull CS high to deselect the device.
  8. Write Protection:

    • Set WP low to prevent any write or erase operations.
    • Set WP high to allow write and erase operations.
  9. Hold Function:

    • Set HOLD low to pause any ongoing SPI transactions.
    • Set HOLD high to resume normal operation.
  10. Storage:

    • Store the device in a dry, cool place to ensure data retention.
    • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
