Instructions for Use

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect the VCC pin to a 4.5V to 5.5V power supply.
    • Connect the battery backup pin (Vbat) to a 2.7V to 3.6V battery.
  2. Address and Data Lines:

    • Connect the address lines (A0-A15) to the desired memory locations.
    • Connect the data lines (D0-D7) to the data bus.
  3. Control Signals:

    • Chip Select (CS): Low to enable the device.
    • Write Enable (WE): Low to write data to the selected memory location.
    • Output Enable (OE): Low to read data from the selected memory location.
  4. Write Operation:

    • Set CS and WE low.
    • Apply the desired address to the address lines.
    • Apply the data to be written to the data lines.
    • Wait for the write cycle time (100 μs) before setting WE high.
  5. Read Operation:

    • Set CS and OE low.
    • Apply the desired address to the address lines.
    • Data will be available on the data lines after the access time (70 ns).
  6. Battery Backup:

    • Ensure the battery is connected to maintain data retention during power loss.
    • The device will automatically switch to battery power when VCC falls below the threshold.
  7. Storage and Handling:

    • Store the device in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
    • Handle with care to avoid static discharge which can damage the device.
  8. End of Life:

    • When the battery reaches its end of life (data retention less than 10 years), replace the battery or the entire module if necessary.
