Instructions for Use:
- Power Supply Connection: Connect the Vcc pin to a 5V power supply and GND pin to ground.
- Enable Inputs: The chip has two enable inputs (G1 and G2). Both must be LOW for the decoder to operate. If either is HIGH, all outputs are HIGH.
- Address Inputs: Four address lines (A0-A3) determine which of the 16 output lines will be active (LOW). Only one output line is active at any given time based on the binary value of A0-A3.
- Output Lines: The 16 output lines (Y0-Y15) are active LOW. When an output is selected by the address lines, it goes LOW while all others remain HIGH.
- Handling Unused Inputs: Ensure that unused address inputs are tied to a known state (either HIGH or LOW) to prevent undefined behavior.
- Decoding Application: This IC can be used in applications such as memory addressing, signal routing, or controlling multiple devices from a few control lines.
