Instructions for FP1016

  1. Input Voltage (VIN):

    • Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 2.7V to 5.5V.
    • Do not exceed the maximum input voltage to avoid damaging the device.
  2. Output Voltage (VOUT):

    • The output voltage can be set between 1.8V and 3.3V using external resistors.
    • Use the formula ( V_ = 1.23 left(1 + fracright) ) to calculate the required resistor values.
  3. Output Current (IOUT):

    • The typical output current is 1.2A, with a maximum of 1.5A.
    • Ensure the load does not exceed the maximum output current to prevent overheating or damage.
  4. Quiescent Current (IQ):

    • The quiescent current is typically 100渭A.
    • This low quiescent current makes the device suitable for battery-powered applications.
  5. Dropout Voltage (VDROPOUT):

    • The dropout voltage is typically 120mV.
    • This low dropout voltage ensures efficient operation even at low input voltages.
  6. Operating Temperature (TOPR):

    • The operating temperature range is from -40掳C to 85掳C.
    • Avoid operating the device outside this range to ensure reliable performance.
  7. Storage Temperature (TSTG):

    • The storage temperature range is from -40掳C to 125掳C.
    • Store the device in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
  8. PCB Layout:

    • Place the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the device to minimize noise and improve stability.
    • Use a ground plane to enhance thermal dissipation and reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  9. Thermal Considerations:

    • If the device is expected to operate near its maximum output current, consider adding a heatsink or ensuring adequate airflow to dissipate heat.
  10. Capacitor Selection:

    • Use ceramic capacitors with X7R or X5R dielectric for both input and output capacitors.
    • Ensure the capacitors have a rated voltage at least 1.5 times the maximum input/output voltage to provide a safety margin.
  11. Enabling/Disabling:

    • The enable pin (EN) can be used to turn the device on or off.
    • Connect the EN pin to the supply voltage (VIN) to enable the device, or to ground to disable it.
  12. Short-Circuit Protection:

    • The device includes short-circuit protection to prevent damage in case of an overload or short circuit.
    • In the event of a short circuit, the device will automatically shut down and restart after a brief delay.
