Instructions for Using XR3403

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect the positive terminal of the power supply to the VIN pin.
    • Connect the negative terminal of the power supply to the GND pin.
  2. Output Configuration:

    • Connect the load to the VOUT pin.
    • Use external resistors to set the desired output voltage. The formula for calculating the output voltage is: [ V_{text} = V_{text} left(1 + fracright) ] where ( V_{text} = 1.25 ) V, ( R_1 ) is the resistor connected between VOUT and ADJ, and ( R_2 ) is the resistor connected between ADJ and GND.
  3. Capacitor Requirements:

    • Place a 1 渭F ceramic capacitor between VIN and GND to filter input noise.
    • Place a 1 渭F ceramic capacitor between VOUT and GND to stabilize the output.
  4. Thermal Considerations:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation if operating at high currents or in high ambient temperatures.
    • Use a heatsink if necessary to keep the junction temperature below 160掳C.
  5. Protection Features:

    • The IC includes overcurrent, thermal, and short-circuit protection. These features will automatically shut down the device if any of these conditions are detected.
  6. Layout Recommendations:

    • Keep the layout compact and minimize trace lengths to reduce parasitic inductance and capacitance.
    • Use wide traces for power and ground connections to reduce resistance and improve heat dissipation.
  7. Testing:

    • After assembly, test the output voltage with a multimeter to ensure it matches the desired value.
    • Gradually increase the load to verify the maximum output current capability and stability.

By following these instructions, you can effectively use the XR3403 in your application.
