Instructions for Use:

  1. Handling and Storage:

    • Store the device in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
    • Handle with care to avoid damage to the leads and body.
  2. Mounting:

    • Ensure proper heat sinking if operating at high currents or in high ambient temperatures.
    • Use appropriate mounting hardware to secure the device firmly.
  3. Electrical Connections:

    • Connect the gate terminal to the control circuit with a short, low-inductance wire to minimize noise.
    • Ensure that the main terminals (anode and cathode) are connected correctly to avoid reverse polarity, which can cause damage.
  4. Gate Triggering:

    • Apply a gate current (IGT) of at least 5 mA to ensure reliable triggering.
    • The gate voltage (VGT) should be within the range of 0.65 V to 1.5 V for proper operation.
  5. Operating Conditions:

    • Do not exceed the rated off-state voltage (VDRM) of 800 V.
    • The RMS on-state current (IT(RMS)) should not exceed 8 A.
    • For non-repetitive peak on-state current (ITSM), do not exceed 160 A for a duration of 10 ms.
  6. Temperature Considerations:

    • Ensure that the junction temperature (TJ) does not exceed 125掳C.
    • The storage temperature range is from -40掳C to 125掳C.
  7. Dissipation Management:

    • If operating near the maximum ratings, use adequate cooling methods such as heatsinks or forced air cooling to manage power dissipation.
  8. Testing:

    • Before final installation, test the device under actual operating conditions to ensure it meets the required performance specifications.
  9. Safety Precautions:

    • Always follow safety guidelines when handling high-voltage and high-current circuits.
    • Use appropriate protective equipment and follow all relevant safety standards.
