Instructions for Use:

  1. Mounting:

    • Ensure proper mounting to avoid thermal issues. Use a heat sink if necessary, especially under high load conditions.
    • Place the NJM78L02A in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating.
  2. Input Voltage:

    • The input voltage should be at least 1.5V higher than the output voltage (2.0V) to ensure proper regulation.
    • Do not exceed the maximum input voltage rating of the device.
  3. Output Capacitor:

    • A 1μF ceramic capacitor is recommended on the output to stabilize the regulator and improve transient response.
    • Place the capacitor as close as possible to the output pin to minimize parasitic inductance.
  4. Input Capacitor:

    • An input capacitor of 0.1μF to 1μF is recommended to filter out noise and improve stability.
    • Place this capacitor near the input pin.
  5. Thermal Protection:

    • The NJM78L02A has built-in thermal shutdown protection. If the junction temperature exceeds 175°C, the device will shut down to prevent damage.
    • Ensure adequate cooling to keep the device within its operating temperature range.
  6. Polarity:

    • Ensure correct polarity when connecting the device. Reversing the input and output can damage the regulator.
  7. Short-Circuit Protection:

    • The NJM78L02A includes short-circuit protection, but it is still advisable to use appropriate fuses or circuit breakers to protect against excessive current draw.
  8. Storage:

    • Store the device in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
    • Follow ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) precautions to avoid damaging the device during handling and installation.
