Instructions for Using 74F74 D Flip-Flop

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect VCC to +5V and GND to ground.
    • Ensure the supply voltage is within the specified range (4.5V to 5.5V).
  2. Input Signals:

    • Data Input (D): Connect the data signal to the D pin.
    • Clock Input (CLK): Connect the clock signal to the CLK pin.
    • Set (S) and Reset (R) Inputs: These are active low inputs. Connect them to logic high (VCC) when not in use.
  3. Output Signals:

    • Q and Q?: These are the complementary outputs of the flip-flop. Q provides the non-inverted output, and Q? provides the inverted output.
  4. Operation:

    • The flip-flop will capture the state of the D input on the rising edge of the clock signal (CLK).
    • If S is low, the Q output will be set to high regardless of the D input.
    • If R is low, the Q output will be reset to low regardless of the D input.
    • If both S and R are high, the flip-flop will follow the D input on the rising edge of the clock.
  5. Timing Considerations:

    • Ensure that the setup time (tsu) and hold time (thold) requirements are met for reliable operation.
    • The minimum pulse width (tpw(min)) for the clock signal must be observed to ensure proper triggering of the flip-flop.
  6. Temperature Range:

    • The device is designed to operate within the temperature range of -40掳C to 85掳C. Store the device within the storage temperature range of -65掳C to 150掳C.
  7. Handling:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD). Use proper ESD protection equipment when handling the device.
  8. Testing:

    • Before integrating the 74F74 into a circuit, test it using a simple test circuit to verify its functionality.
