Instructions for Use:

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage to the VIN pin. Ensure the voltage is within the specified range (2.7V to 5.5V).
  2. Battery Connection:

    • Connect the positive terminal of the battery to the BAT pin.
    • Connect the negative terminal of the battery to GND.
  3. Setting Charge Current:

    • The charge current can be set using an external resistor connected between PROG and GND. Refer to the datasheet for specific resistor values corresponding to desired charge currents.
  4. Thermal Considerations:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation, especially during charging, as the device operates efficiently but can generate heat depending on the input voltage and charge current.
  5. Reverse Battery Protection:

    • The LTC4090 includes reverse battery protection, so no additional components are required for this function.
  6. Status Indication:

    • Monitor the STAT pin for status indication. This pin can be used to indicate charging status or faults.
  7. Shutdown Mode:

    • To enter shutdown mode, pull the EN pin low. In this mode, the quiescent current drops to less than 1渭A.
  8. Layout Considerations:

    • Keep the layout compact with short traces, especially for high-frequency nodes like SW and BYPASS.
    • Place decoupling capacitors close to the power pins for stable operation.
