Instructions

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage (VIN) to the VIN pin.
    • Connect the ground (GND) to the GND pin.
  2. Output Voltage Setting:

    • Use external resistors R1 and R2 to set the output voltage (VOUT) according to the formula: [ V_ = V_ left(1 + fracright) ]
    • Where ( V_ ) is typically 0.8V.
  3. Switching Frequency Adjustment:

    • Set the switching frequency using an external resistor (RT) connected to the RT/CLK pin.
    • The relationship between the resistor value and the switching frequency is given by: [ f_ = frac{1.1 times 10^6} ]
  4. Enable Pin:

    • To turn on the converter, apply a high logic level (typically 3.3V or 5V) to the EN pin.
    • To turn off the converter, apply a low logic level (0V) to the EN pin.
  5. Soft Start:

    • Connect a capacitor (CSS) to the SS pin to set the soft start time.
    • The soft start time is approximately: [ t_ approx 1.1 times C_ times 10^6 ]
  6. Frequency Synchronization:

    • To synchronize the switching frequency with an external clock, connect the external clock signal to the RT/CLK pin.
  7. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation by providing a good thermal path from the exposed pad (EP) to the PCB.
  8. Protection Features:

    • The device includes overcurrent, overtemperature, and undervoltage lockout protection. No additional components are required for these features.
  9. Layout Considerations:

    • Place the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the respective pins.
    • Use wide traces for power paths to minimize inductance and resistance.
    • Ensure a solid ground plane to reduce noise and improve stability.
  10. Testing:

    • Before finalizing the design, test the converter under various operating conditions to ensure it meets the required performance specifications.
