Instructions for Use

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect Vcc to the positive power supply (3.0V to 5.5V).
    • Connect GND to the system ground.
  2. Signal Lines:

    • Connect the differential data lines A and B to the corresponding pins on the RS-485 network.
    • Ensure proper termination resistors (120惟) are used at the ends of the bus to prevent signal reflections.
  3. Control Lines:

    • DE (Driver Enable): Set to high to enable the driver (transmit mode).
    • RE (Receiver Enable): Set to low to enable the receiver (receive mode).
    • DE and RE can be tied together for half-duplex operation or controlled separately for full-duplex operation.
  4. Data Lines:

    • RO (Receiver Output): Connect to the microcontroller or other receiving device.
    • DI (Driver Input): Connect to the microcontroller or other transmitting device.
  5. Termination:

    • Use 120惟 termination resistors at both ends of the RS-485 bus to match the characteristic impedance of the cable and reduce signal reflections.
  6. Grounding:

    • Ensure a common ground between all devices on the RS-485 network to maintain signal integrity.
  7. ESD Protection:

    • Handle the DK485 with ESD precautions to avoid damage from static electricity.
  8. Layout Considerations:

    • Keep signal traces as short as possible to minimize noise and interference.
    • Use a ground plane to provide a low-impedance return path for signals.
  9. Testing:

    • Test the communication by sending and receiving data between two devices connected to the RS-485 network.
    • Verify the correct operation of the DE and RE control lines to ensure proper transmit and receive functions.
