Instructions for Using BTA20-600CW
Mounting:
- Ensure the device is mounted on a suitable heatsink to manage the thermal resistance and maintain the junction temperature within the specified range.
- Use thermal paste between the device and the heatsink to improve heat transfer.
Gate Triggering:
- Apply a gate trigger current (IGT) of at least 50 mA to turn on the device.
- Ensure the gate trigger pulse duration is sufficient to fully turn on the device.
Holding Current:
- The device will remain on as long as the holding current (IH) is maintained above 5 mA.
- If the load current drops below the holding current, the device will turn off.
Voltage and Current Ratings:
- Do not exceed the maximum repetitive peak off-state voltage (VDRM, VRRM) of 400 V.
- The non-repetitive on-state current (ITSM) can be up to 600 A, but ensure the device is adequately cooled.
- The repetitive on-state current (IT(RMS)) should not exceed 20 A under continuous operation.
Power Dissipation:
- The maximum power dissipation (PD) is 110 W. Ensure that the device is properly cooled to handle this power level.
Temperature Management:
- Operate the device within the specified junction temperature range (-40 to +125掳C).
- Store the device within the storage temperature range (-40 to +125掳C).
- Ensure the operating temperature (TOPR) is within the range of -40 to +85掳C.
Handling and Storage:
- Handle the device with care to avoid mechanical damage.
- Store the device in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and corrosive environments.
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protection:
- Use proper ESD protection measures when handling the device to prevent damage from static electricity.
Testing:
- Before installing the device in a circuit, test it using a suitable test setup to ensure it meets the specified parameters.
Compliance:
- Ensure that the device complies with all relevant safety and regulatory standards for your application.
