Instructions for Use

  1. Mounting:

    • Ensure the CS-8156 is mounted on a heatsink if operating at high output currents to maintain safe operating temperatures.
    • Use a thermal compound between the IC and the heatsink to improve heat dissipation.
  2. Circuit Connection:

    • Connect the input pin (Pin 1) to the power supply.
    • Connect the ground pin (Pin 2) to the common ground.
    • Connect the output pin (Pin 3) to the load or circuit requiring regulated 5V.
  3. Capacitors:

    • Place a 10渭F electrolytic capacitor between the input pin and ground close to the IC to stabilize the input voltage.
    • Place a 10渭F electrolytic capacitor between the output pin and ground close to the IC to stabilize the output voltage.
  4. Power Supply:

    • Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range (4.5V to 30V).
    • The input voltage should be at least 1.2V higher than the output voltage to ensure proper regulation.
  5. Current Limiting:

    • The CS-8156 has built-in overcurrent protection, but it is recommended to use external fuses or current-limiting resistors for additional safety.
  6. Thermal Consideration:

    • Monitor the temperature of the IC during operation. If the temperature exceeds 125掳C, reduce the load or improve cooling.
  7. Testing:

    • After assembly, test the output voltage with a multimeter to ensure it is stable at 5V.
    • Check for any overheating or unusual behavior.

By following these instructions, you can ensure reliable operation of the CS-8156 voltage regulator.
