Instructions for Use
Pin Configuration:
- Pin 1 (GND): Ground reference.
- Pin 2 (TRIG): Trigger input; a low pulse here starts the timing cycle.
- Pin 3 (OUT): Output pin; provides the output signal.
- Pin 4 (RESET): Reset input; a low pulse here resets the timer.
- Pin 5 (CTRL): Control voltage input; used to adjust the threshold voltage.
- Pin 6 (THRES): Threshold input; determines the end of the timing cycle.
- Pin 7 (DISCH): Discharge pin; used to discharge the external capacitor.
- Pin 8 (Vcc): Positive supply voltage.
Monostable Mode:
- Connect a resistor (R) between Vcc and Pin 7 (DISCH).
- Connect a capacitor (C) between Pin 6 (THRES) and GND.
- Apply a low pulse to Pin 2 (TRIG) to start the timing cycle.
- The output (Pin 3) will remain high for a time period ( T = 1.1 times R times C ).
Astable Mode:
- Connect a resistor (R1) between Vcc and Pin 7 (DISCH).
- Connect another resistor (R2) between Pin 7 (DISCH) and Pin 6 (THRES).
- Connect a capacitor (C) between Pin 6 (THRES) and GND.
- The output (Pin 3) will oscillate with a frequency ( f = frac{1.44}{(R1 + 2R2) times C} ).
Power Supply:
- Ensure the supply voltage (Vcc) is within the specified range (4.5V to 16V).
- Use a decoupling capacitor (e.g., 0.1渭F) between Vcc and GND close to the IC to filter out noise.
Reset Function:
- A low signal on Pin 4 (RESET) will immediately reset the timer, regardless of the state of other inputs.
Control Voltage:
- Pin 5 (CTRL) can be used to adjust the threshold voltage, allowing for precise control of the timing cycle. If not used, it should be bypassed to GND with a 10nF capacitor to avoid noise interference.
Output Load:
- The output can drive loads up to 200mA. For higher currents, use a transistor or other driver circuit.
Temperature Considerations:
- Ensure the operating temperature is within the specified range (-40掳C to +85掳C) to maintain reliable operation.
