Instructions for Use

  1. Power Supply: Connect the +5V DC supply to pin 16 (Vcc) and ground to pin 8 (GND).
  2. Clock Input: Apply an external clock signal to pin 9 (CLOCK IN). The frequency of this clock determines the overall operating speed.
  3. Data Communication:
    • Data is written to the PSG via pins 1 through 7, which are used for data and address lines in parallel mode.
    • Pin 15 (CS) is the chip select line; it must be low to enable writing to the device.
    • Pin 14 (DATA IN) is used for serial data input when in serial mode.
  4. Sound Channels: Configure the three sound channels using the register settings. Each channel can produce square waves with adjustable frequency and volume.
  5. Noise Channel: This channel generates white noise and can be mixed with the tone channels for effects like snare drums or explosions.
  6. Output Amplification: The output from pins 10, 11, and 12 should be connected to an amplifier or speaker system. These outputs are analog signals representing the generated sounds.
  7. Register Programming: Refer to the specific datasheet for detailed programming instructions of the internal registers to set up tones, volumes, and other parameters.

Note: For detailed specifications and advanced programming, refer to the official datasheet provided by the manufacturer.
