Instructions

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect the encoder to a 5 V DC power supply.
    • Ensure the supply voltage is stable to avoid erratic behavior.
  2. Installation:

    • Mount the encoder on a flat surface using the through-hole mounting method.
    • Ensure the shaft is aligned with the intended axis of rotation.
    • Secure the encoder with appropriate fasteners to prevent vibration-induced loosening.
  3. Wiring:

    • Connect the red wire to the positive terminal of the power supply.
    • Connect the black wire to the ground (GND).
    • Connect the yellow and green wires to the A and B output channels, respectively, for quadrature encoding.
    • Optionally, connect the white wire to the index channel if required.
  4. Operation:

    • Rotate the shaft to generate pulses on the A and B channels.
    • The A and B signals will be phase-shifted by 90 degrees, allowing for direction detection.
    • The index channel (if used) will provide a single pulse per revolution for reference.
  5. Handling:

    • Handle the encoder with care to avoid damage to the shaft or housing.
    • Avoid exposing the encoder to extreme temperatures or humid environments.
    • Do not apply excessive force to the shaft during installation or operation.
  6. Troubleshooting:

    • If the encoder does not produce output, check the power supply connections and ensure the supply voltage is correct.
    • Verify that the wiring to the A and B channels is correct and secure.
    • If the output is erratic, check for mechanical issues such as misalignment or loose mounting.
