Instructions for Using the 24LC08 EEPROM

  1. Power Supply:

    • Ensure the operating voltage (VCC) is within the specified range of 1.8V to 5.5V.
  2. Addressing:

    • The device has a 7-bit address with three hardware-selectable pins (A0, A1, A2). These pins can be tied to VCC or GND to set the address.
  3. Data Transfer Protocol:

    • Communication is via the I2C protocol.
    • Start condition followed by the device address and R/W bit.
    • For write operations, send data bytes after the address byte.
    • For read operations, send the address byte followed by repeated start and then read the data bytes.
  4. Write Operations:

    • Before writing, ensure the previous write cycle has completed (wait for at least 5ms).
    • Perform page writes up to 8 bytes at once.
  5. Read Operations:

    • Initiate read cycles after setting the memory address.
    • Use repeated start conditions for continuous reading.
  6. Handling:

    • Avoid exceeding the maximum ratings to prevent damage.
    • Ensure proper decoupling capacitors are used near the power supply pins to stabilize the power supply.
  7. Storage:

    • Store in a dry, cool place when not in use.
    • Data retention is guaranteed for up to 100 years under typical storage conditions.
