Instructions for BTA16-800
Mounting and Handling:
- Ensure the device is mounted on a heatsink if continuous operation near maximum current ratings is expected.
- Handle with care to avoid damage to the sensitive gate terminal.
Operating Conditions:
- Do not exceed the maximum junction temperature of 125°C.
- Keep within the specified voltage and current limits to prevent damage or premature failure.
Triggering:
- Apply a gate trigger current (IG(T)) between 5mA and 50mA at a gate trigger voltage (VG(T)) ranging from 1.5V to 3V.
- Ensure the holding current (IH) exceeds 30mA to maintain conduction after triggering.
Current Ratings:
- The RMS on-state current (IT(RMS)) should not exceed 16A continuously.
- For short pulses, the non-repetitive peak on-state current (ITSM) can reach up to 150A under specified conditions.
Voltage Ratings:
- Both repetitive peak off-state voltage (VDRM) and repetitive peak reverse voltage (VRRM) are rated at 800V; ensure that these ratings are not exceeded in the circuit design.
Safety Precautions:
- Always use appropriate safety measures when handling high voltages and currents.
- Ensure proper insulation and protection against electrical hazards.
