Instructions for BTA16-800

  1. Mounting and Handling:

    • Ensure the device is mounted on a heatsink if continuous operation near maximum current ratings is expected.
    • Handle with care to avoid damage to the sensitive gate terminal.
  2. Operating Conditions:

    • Do not exceed the maximum junction temperature of 125°C.
    • Keep within the specified voltage and current limits to prevent damage or premature failure.
  3. Triggering:

    • Apply a gate trigger current (IG(T)) between 5mA and 50mA at a gate trigger voltage (VG(T)) ranging from 1.5V to 3V.
    • Ensure the holding current (IH) exceeds 30mA to maintain conduction after triggering.
  4. Current Ratings:

    • The RMS on-state current (IT(RMS)) should not exceed 16A continuously.
    • For short pulses, the non-repetitive peak on-state current (ITSM) can reach up to 150A under specified conditions.
  5. Voltage Ratings:

    • Both repetitive peak off-state voltage (VDRM) and repetitive peak reverse voltage (VRRM) are rated at 800V; ensure that these ratings are not exceeded in the circuit design.
  6. Safety Precautions:

    • Always use appropriate safety measures when handling high voltages and currents.
    • Ensure proper insulation and protection against electrical hazards.
