Instructions for Use:
Mounting and Heat Sinking:
- Ensure the BTA20-600 is properly mounted on a suitable heat sink to maintain junction temperatures within safe limits.
- Thermal resistance from junction to case (Rthjc) should be considered in thermal management design.
Current Limitation:
- Do not exceed the rated on-state current (IT(RMS)) of 20A continuously at Tc=40°C.
- For pulse conditions, ensure peak on-state current (ITT(M)) does not exceed 600A with a pulse duration of 10ms and Tj≤125°C.
Voltage Handling:
- The device can handle repetitive peak off-state voltages up to 600V at Tj=25°C.
- Ensure adequate voltage margins are maintained to avoid breakdown under transient conditions.
Power Dissipation:
- Keep total device dissipation below 110W when the case temperature is 40°C.
- Monitor and control power dissipation to prevent overheating.
Temperature Management:
- Operate within the specified junction temperature range (-40°C to 125°C).
- Storage temperature must also be within -40°C to 125°C to avoid damage.
Handling Precautions:
- Handle the device with care to avoid static discharge which can damage sensitive components.
- Follow proper soldering procedures to ensure reliable connections without causing thermal stress.
Application Notes:
- Refer to the manufacturer's application notes for detailed guidelines on using this component in specific applications.
- Consider derating factors for operation in environments that differ from standard test conditions.
