Instructions for Using DS1621:

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect VCC to a supply voltage between 2.7 V and 5.5 V.
    • Connect GND to ground.
  2. Interface Configuration:

    • The DS1621 uses a two-wire interface (TWI) which is I2C compatible.
    • Connect SDA (data line) and SCL (clock line) to your microcontroller or system controller.
  3. Address Setting:

    • Use the three address pins (A0, A1, A2) to set a unique address if multiple DS1621 devices are used on the same bus. Each pin can be connected to either VCC or GND to set the address bits.
  4. Temperature Conversion:

    • Initiate a temperature conversion by sending a command over the TWI interface.
    • Wait for the conversion time (up to 750 ms for a 12-bit conversion).
  5. Reading Temperature:

    • After conversion, read the temperature data from the device using the appropriate register read commands.
  6. Setting Temperature Limits:

    • Program the TH (high temperature limit) and TL (low temperature limit) registers to set alarm thresholds.
    • The device will assert an interrupt when the temperature crosses these limits.
  7. Shutdown Mode:

    • To reduce power consumption, put the device into shutdown mode by writing to the configuration register. This reduces current consumption to 0.5 μA.
  8. Resolution Adjustment:

    • Adjust the temperature resolution from 9-bit to 12-bit by modifying the configuration register settings.
  9. Package Handling:

    • Ensure proper handling of the SO-8 package to avoid damage. Follow standard ESD precautions.
